Job Description Job Requisition ID: 44688 Job Closing Date: 12th August 2026 London, GBR, W1A 1AA Job Details JOB TITLE : Senior Project Manager, Generative AI Direction JOB BAND : D CONTRACT TYPE : Permanent, Full-time DEPARTMENT : BBC Group Strategy and Transformation LOCATION : London – 3 working days in the office with the remainder hybrid working PROPOSED SALARY RANGE : £50,000 - £65,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights. Purpose Of The Role The Senior Project Manager will help deliver the BBC’s organisation-wide approach to Gen AI. The role will work across a range of projects, both internally and externally facing, including supporting industry partnerships and activity. It will be responsible for analysis, planning and delivering on BBC priorities in a complex and evolving landscape. ABOUT THE TEAM The Generative AI Programme, part of the Strategy & Transformation team, helps the BBC realise value from rapidly evolving Gen AI capabilities in a way that is practical, responsible and aligned to the BBC’s public service mission. The team’s activities include enabling adoption of AI tools across the organisation; fostering innovation; finding opportunities to use AI to work more efficiently as an organisation, and leading the BBC's engagement on wider AI issues that shape our operating environment. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT • Support the Head of Generative AI Direction to drive forward work on the wider AI issues that are shaping BBC’s operating environment, including but not limited to, how BBC’s content is protected against unauthorised use and used in third party systems, and AI literacy and skills. • Deliver analysis of market developments, opportunities and external issues relating to AI, and help translate these into practical implications for the BBC. • Manage a range of projects relating to Gen AI, helping to turn direction into clear plans, milestones, outputs and decisions, in collaboration with different teams across the organisation. • Lead projects on behalf of the BBC, including initiatives involving external partners and other media organisations. • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support delivery across a complex and fast-moving area of work. YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE • Experience of delivering strategic projects, external partnerships or cross-functional programmes of work. • Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and teams to support delivery across a complex and fast-moving area of work. • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders to help establish common positions on complex issues. • Good understanding of the AI landscape, including relevant industry developments and implications for media, content and audiences. • Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage sensitive issues with sound judgement. • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex information and data, identify key implications and produce clear, actionable insights. DESIRABLE • Commercial and/or editorial experience would be welcomed but is not essential.
