Description
About NOA: Established in 2022, NOA  (an  acronym  for Net Zero Africa)   is a leading renewable energy independent power producer (IPP) ,   aggregato r  and energy trader, licensed by the National Energy Regulator of South Africa. We empower commercial and industrial companies to reach their net-zero goals while securing long-term energy savings. Backed by R3.9 billion in equity capital from Old Mutual’s African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM), we  currently   have  1475  MW of  generation capacity under construction . At NOA, we believe that energy is life; it is the pulse that powers our industries,  our economy and  empowers our communities . We are currently at a unique, once-in-a-generation moment in South African history,  similar to  the birth of the gold industry or the mobile revolution. It is a mission-critical time, and we have the right partners and  expertise  to shape the creation of an entirely new energy landscape. What truly sets us apart is The NOA  Way ,   our  intentionally crafted culture and roadmap for excellence. We  aren't  just a utility; we are a tight, high-functioning team of  all-in   problem solvers who lean into complexity to find original solutions. We speak simply, act big ,  and step forward to own the changes our nation needs. Our impact is immense: we are here to solve the immediate energy crisis, fuel the growth of the South African economy, and create a global blueprint for a decarbonised future. We are building a phenomenal team to do something magnificent together, and we make sure to savour the journey along the way. Role Purpose: At NOA, we know that we need to be a  technology - powered,  product-led business  to  maximise our  impact  and our value to customers  as  the  leading renewable energy  trader in  Africa.  We are building the  technology-powered  solutions  required to deliver the best possible customer experiences and to power our  business at scale. We are seeking  an  experienced Product Manager for our Customer Experience and Analytics product teams   respectively,  to deliver the solutions that  will take NOA to the next level across these domains. At NOA, we empower our product teams to solve hard problems – customer and  internal  business problems – in ways that our customers love  and  work for our business. Our product teams are cross-functional,  generally comprised  of a product manager, a product designer,  tech lead  and  the software  engineers , analysts and other roles  required  for the domain . We staff our product teams with the  necessary skills  to come up with effective solutions that are valuable (our customers choose to buy or use  it ), viable (the solution works within  the  constraints of  the  business), usable (the user can figure out how to use  it ) and feasible (our engineers have the skills and technology to implement  it ). While the product designer is accountable for ensuring the solution is usable, and the engineers are accountable for ensuring the solution is  feasible , the product manager  takes end-to-end  accountab ility   for delivering the solution and  ensuring  it is  both valuable and  viable . As product manager you must  contribute  a solid knowledge of the various constraints of the business  to  your  product team – constraints from marketing, sales,  operations ,  portfolio  management ,   trading,  finance  and  legal   are typical examples .   You  must also contribute a deep knowledge of our users and customers, and the data about how our customers  or internal users  engage with our products .   Finally,  you are  expected to track industry trends and the competitive landscape as they pertain to  your team’s p roduct s and domain . We  operate  in a technically  and commercially  complex industry involving extensive analytics and data , so your ability to grasp new domains  and technical concepts and to draw insights from data will be critical for the role. We  seek  product managers that understand that consistent innovation is the result of each member of the product team contributing their passion and their ideas .   As  product manager  you  must collaborate closely with  your  product designer and engineers to discover effective solutions and then work together to deliver those solutions to  our customers or internal users , while managing the delivery process . While we empower our product teams to figure out the best solutions to the problems that need to be solved, we also hold those teams accountable  for  the results .   Shipping is necessary, but not sufficient .   We look for product managers that are not afraid of signing up for results, even when this means they  have to  work through others to achieve the necessary  outcomes . A s with the other roles on the product team,  this  is an individual contributor role .   You will need to be able to influence your teammates, as well as colleagues, stakeholders, and key executives, through your use of data ,   analysis,  logic  and  executive communication . Qualifications & Competencies: • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience. • Demonstrated understanding of the techniques and methods of modern product discovery and product delivery. • 5+  years working on technology-powered products as either a product manager, product designer, engineer, data analyst, data scientist, or user researcher. • Demonstrated ability to  learn  multiple  new  functional areas of business  and technical domains  –  e.g.  engineering, design, finance, sales ,  marketing , renewable energy, electricity wheeling , energy demand ,  etc . • Demonstrated ability to figure out solutions to hard problems with many constraints, using sound judgement to assess risks, and to lay out your argument in a well-structured, data-informed, written narrative. • Strong analytical skills and ability to work with ,   interpret ,  summarise  and explain   technical and commercial  data . • Proven ability to engage with engineers, designers, and company leaders in a constructive and collaborative relationship. Diverse Perspectives: We know that innovation thrives on product teams where diverse points of view come together to solve hard problems. As such, we explicitly seek people that bring diverse life experiences, diverse educational backgrounds, diverse cultures, and diverse work experiences.  Please be prepared to share with us how your perspective will bring something unique and valuable to our product teams.
