Description
As a Senior Product Designer for FME Flow, you'll play a hands-on role in shaping the user experience of one of Safe Software's core products. You'll own design work across the full lifecycle, from discovery and ideation through to polished delivery, working closely with product management and software development to create intuitive, effective solutions for complex technical workflows. You'll produce a wide range of design artifacts to explore, define, and validate solutions, and you'll contribute to a strong design culture by engaging thoughtfully with peers and embracing new methods, including AI, to improve your efficiency and output. ABOUT THE TEAM As part of the FME Flow team, you'll join a cross-functional group of product managers, software developers, and designers who work closely together to shape one of Safe Software's core products. The team is responsible for delivering powerful, intuitive experiences that make complex data integration workflows more approachable and effective. We value collaboration, open feedback, and shared ownership, and you'll play a key role in ensuring design excellence and user-centered thinking are embedded throughout the product development process. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING As a Senior Product Designer, you will: STRATEGIC COLLABORATION - Own the end-to-end design process for product initiatives, from collaborating on opportunity framing, discovery workshops, concept development to final design handoff and QA. - Collaborate with product managers and technical stakeholders to scope features, align on vision, and contribute to roadmap decisions. - Apply sound judgment to determine when a solution warrants quick, tactical action (e.g., UI refinements, interaction polish) versus when to invest in deeper research and iterative design cycles—and clearly communicate that rationale to key stakeholders. DESIGN CRAFT - Partner with technical stakeholders and domain experts to deeply understand highly technical workflows and distill them into intuitive, user-centered solutions. - Deliver a wide range of design artifacts that incorporate AI, including: - User flows, journey maps, storyboards, and diagrams to model workflows and key handoff points. - Low-fidelity sketches, wireframes, or rapid prototypes to collaboratively explore ideas and discuss tradeoffs. - Diagrams to identify and address edge cases for highly technical workflows. - Hi-fidelity mockups and design specs/documentation - Collaborate with user researcher on research planning and translating insights into actionable recommendations and concrete design iterations DESIGN OPS - Contribute to the evolution of our design system by creating, refining, and documenting reusable components and patterns that drive consistency and scalability, while optimizing for AI-assisted design and development. - Continuously look for ways to optimize the design pipeline, tooling, collaboration practices and workflows through experimentation and emerging technologies. - Collaborate with cross-team stakeholders to align on accessibility considerations and UX standards across FME Flow and the broader FME platform. - Support design quality at scale by contributing to documentation, guidelines, and best practices that enable designers and cross-functional partners to work more effectively. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES Safers come from a variety of backgrounds with a diversity in skills and knowledge. That said, we find that those who are most successful in this role have experience with the following areas. Required skills: - 5+ years of UX/product design experience with a strong portfolio of enterprise, B2B, or technical product work. - Experience designing complex workflows or tools for developers, analysts, data engineers, or other technical users. - Comfortable engaging in technical conversations, synthesizing technical information, and incorporating it into human-centere
