Description
Addi is a leading financial platform in Colombia serving over 2 million customers, providing banking solutions and commerce services. As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will design and operate the internal engineering platform that increases developer productivity across the organization, delivering frictionless build, test, and observability experiences while abstracting infrastructure complexity from product teams. What You'll Do • Reduce CI pipeline execution times by 40% within 12 months through advanced build caching, parallelization, and incremental compilation strategies for the Java/JVM ecosystem • Deliver 100% automated SLO dashboard instrumentation and alert policy coverage for all platform services within 6 months, embedding reliability tracking directly into the platform layer • Establish zero platform-team dependency for production performance triage within 9 months by operating an integrated continuous observability solution with CPU, heap, and thread profiling across all production JVM services • Reduce platform support tickets per developer within 12 months by shipping AI-assisted capabilities including automated runbook generation, LLM-based log triage, and service scaffolding • Design and maintain developer-facing platforms including service catalogs, golden-path templates, and scaffolding tooling that measurably improve engineering autonomy What You Need • 3–5 years of professional experience building or operating platforms serving Java/JVM-based backend systems at scale • Strong software architecture fundamentals including understanding of distributed system tradeoffs, service boundaries, API design, and data consistency patterns • Hands-on proficiency with JVM internals relevant to production operations: garbage collection tuning, classloading, thread modeling, heap analysis, and JIT behavior • Deep expertise in CI/CD systems including remote caching, test parallelization, flakiness detection, and incremental build strategies • Expert-level hands-on experience with observability stack: metrics (Prometheus/Grafana), distributed tracing (OpenTelemetry, Tempo/Jaeger), structured logging, and continuous profiling • Strong Linux fundamentals including process scheduling, memory management, file descriptors, networking stack, and cgroups/namespaces as they relate to container and JVM behavior • Deep understanding of container runtime behavior (Docker, containerd) and Kubernetes scheduling for tuning resource allocation, JVM heap sizing, and startup probes for Java workloads Nice to Have • Experience with continuous profiling tools in production JVM environments such as async-profiler or Pyroscope • Demonstrated experience integrating LLM tooling into developer workflows beyond personal productivity • Experience with SLO/SLI frameworks and defining error budget policies with multi-window burn rate alerts • Track record of mentoring product engineers on platform capabilities, architectural patterns, and observability ownership Competitive salary and equity in the company; benefits beyond basics to support growth
