Senior Payroll Advisor Salary: Circa £45,000 based on skills and experience Benefits: Private healthcare, virtual GP service for you and your household, double-matched pension (up to 21% combined) Location: Hybrid working: This role is primarily home-based, with 4 days working from home and 1 day per week in our Huntingdon office. Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract for 18 months Hours: Full-time (Flexibility for part-time) Join Our Team We're looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Advisor to join Anglian Water's People Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in delivering an accurate, compliant and customer-focused payroll service for approximately 6,750 employees. As a subject matter expert, you'll support the Payroll Manager, provide guidance to colleagues, resolve complex payroll queries and drive continuous improvement across payroll processes. Working closely with HR, Finance and external providers, you'll use SAP and Workday to ensure an excellent service is delivered to employees across the business. What You'll Be Doing Processing and overseeing monthly payroll activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Acting as the escalation point for complex payroll queries and employee cases. Maintaining employee records in SAP and Workday. Managing statutory payments, deductions, pensions, salary sacrifice schemes and payroll benefits. Supporting complex payroll activities including redundancy payments, TUPE transfers and family leave pay. Completing payroll reconciliations, journals, audits and month-end reporting. Ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations, pension legislation and employment law. Producing statutory submissions including RTI, P60s, P11Ds and ONS reporting. Working closely with Finance, Employee Relations and external providers to resolve issues and improve processes. Supporting Payroll Advisors while leading continuous improvement initiatives and payroll projects. What We're Looking For Significant payroll experience within a complex organisation. Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements and pension administration. Experience processing high-volume payrolls from end to end. Strong systems experience, ideally SAP and/or Workday. Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills and problem-solving ability. Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships across teams. CIPP qualification or equivalent experience would be advantageous. Why Anglian Water? Join us and make a difference.
