Description
As a Sr. Analyst dedicated to the Nexus project, you will be responsible for the quality assurance of Nexus — an internal tool that is transforming the way we conduct early model testing. You will validate Nexus functionality end-to-end, ensuring the platform delivers accurate, reliable, and reproducible results across catastrophe model workflows. Working at the intersection of cutting-edge science, finance, and modern software engineering, you will build deep expertise in both the Nexus platform and the early-stage model testing processes it enables. If you care passionately about quality and thrive on shipping robust tooling that internal teams depend on, this role offers an excellent opportunity for professional and technical growth. • Read Nexus requirement documents and understand the scope of platform feature updates, early model testing enhancements, and identify the scope of QA testing for each Nexus release. • Build a working understanding of catastrophe modeling concepts (e.g., earthquake, cyclone, flood) and the stochastic modeling approach used in Nexus — on-the-job learning is supported; prior cat-modeling experience is a plus but not required. • Prepare and approve detailed test plans for Nexus features and early model testing workflows, ensuring full coverage of platform functionality, data integrity, and model output accuracy. • Timely execution of Nexus test plans aligned with the project’s release cadence and sprint delivery schedules. • Validate that Nexus produces consistent and accurate early model testing outputs across environments, comparing results against legacy workflows and expected benchmarks. • Perform statistical and mathematical analytics on model outputs. • Perform explicit and implicit validation of the scientific and financial algorithms implemented in Nexus to ensure outputs meet requirements for accuracy and reasonability. • Define test coverage criteria for each feature and confirm all in-scope scenarios are exercised before release. • Train and guide newcomers to help them ramp up the learning curve quickly. • Present developed test plans and test results to peer groups. • Estimate project timelines and effort. • Track requirement updates and estimate their impact on project testing and timelines. • Collaborate with the Nexus development team and product owners to triage, prioritize, and drive timely resolution of defects. • Author and present technical reports/documents detailing analytical work and complex procedures. • Prepare technical model studies and conduct internal training sessions on those topics for the team. • Peer review the work of other analysts. • Design and build end-to-end test automation for Nexus’s web UI and early model testing pipelines using Cypress (JavaScript/TypeScript), and maintain the framework as the platform evolves. • Take ownership of complete processes from end to end. • Provide regular QA status updates to Nexus product owners and stakeholders, enabling transparency and informed decision-making on release readiness. • Implement and expand automated testing practices throughout the Nexus development lifecycle. • Collaborate with peer teams to facilitate the timely completion of projects. • Demonstrate the ability to multitask across concurrent Nexus workstreams, including feature testing, regression testing, and early model validation. • Develop deep expertise in the Nexus platform, its architecture, and its integration points with existing systems such as Touchstone, while staying current with newly adopted technologies.
