Description
The Senior Manager of Strategy & Special Projects is responsible for identifying growth opportunities, assessing business risks, and leading high-impact strategic initiatives from concept to execution suitable for retail & wholesale business landscape. This role acts as an internal strategy leader and execution driver, combining deep market research, structured problem-solving, and cross-functional leadership to deliver measurable business outcomes. The role works closely with senior management to translate strategic priorities into actionable plans and ensure successful implementation across teams. Strategic Planning & Business Insights Conduct in-depth market research (customers, competitors, industry trends) Identify: Growth opportunities (new markets, categories, channels) Business risks (competitive threats, margin pressure, operational gaps) Develop data-driven recommendations for leadership decision-making Prepare high-quality materials for senior leadership (presentations, business cases) Special Projects Leadership (End-to-End Execution) Lead high-priority, CEO/management-sponsored initiatives such as: New business launches (e.g., new store formats, e-commerce expansion) Cost optimization programs Customer experience transformation Define scope, timeline, KPIs, and success metrics. Monitor the against targets, making adjustments as needed. Drive execution across functions (merchandising, operations, marketing, tech) Cross-Functional Program Management Act as the central driver ensuring alignment across teams Break down strategic initiatives into clear, trackable workstreams Set priorities and guide internal teams on execution focus Proactively resolve bottlenecks and escalate risks Requirements 8–12+ years of experience in: Strategy consulting / corporate strategy / business transformation Background in top-tier consulting or strategy roles strongly preferred Experience with digital transformation or e-commerce expansion Exposure to data-driven decision-making environments Comfortable moving between: Boardroom discussions Day-to-day execution with operational teams Strategy & Problem Solving Strong structured thinking (e.g., issue trees, hypothesis-driven approach) Ability to translate ambiguity into clear action plans Market Research & Analytical Skills Advanced skills in: Market sizing Competitive benchmarking Customer segmentation Strong data analysis (Excel, SQL, or BI tools) Ability to synthesize complex data into clear insights Retail Business Acumen (Critical) Deep understanding of: Retail P&L (revenue, margin, inventory, cost structure) Omnichannel business models (store + e-commerce) Key retail drivers (footfall, conversion, basket size) Experience in retail, FMCG, or e-commerce strongly preferred Execution & Project Management Proven ability to drive execution , not just recommend strategy Strong project management skills: Planning, tracking, risk management Stakeholder coordination Ability to manage multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
