Job Title : (SLT) Senior Lab Technician – Civil Construction Department : Quality Control / Civil Engineering Location : Lahore Reporting To : QA/QC Manager Employment Type : Permanent JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Lab Technician is responsible for conducting and supervising laboratory tests on civil construction materials to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and national/international codes. The role includes managing laboratory operations, mentoring junior technicians, coordinating with site engineers, and preparing accurate reports. The Senior Lab Technician plays a critical role in maintaining high-quality standards in all civil construction activities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Laboratory Testing: • Conduct comprehensive testing of civil construction materials including concrete, cement, aggregates, soil, asphalt, water, and other related materials. • Ensure testing is carried out according to ASTM, ACI, BS, IS, or other applicable standards. • Maintain testing accuracy and reliability to support quality control and decision-making. Supervision and Mentorship: • Supervise junior lab technicians and provide guidance on testing procedures and documentation. • Train and mentor lab staff on proper handling of materials and equipment. Equipment Management: • Operate, maintain, and calibrate all laboratory equipment according to standards. • Ensure timely repair and preventive maintenance of lab instruments. • Maintain inventory of laboratory equipment, tools, and consumables. Quality Assurance & Compliance: • Review test results and report findings to QA/QC engineers and project management. • Ensure all activities comply with project specifications, legal requirements, and safety regulations. • Identify non-conformances and recommend corrective actions. Reporting and Documentation: • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly lab reports with detailed observations and results. • Maintain proper records of all tests, samples, certificates, and calibration logs. • Provide data analysis and interpretation to support decision-making on site. Site Coordination: • Assist site engineers during inspections, material approvals. • Conduct field visits to supervise sampling and testing on-site. • Collaborate with project teams to resolve quality-related issues. Safety and Compliance: • Follow safety protocols strictly in the lab and on-site. • Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of construction materials and chemicals. • Conduct safety briefings and ensure compliance with OH&S regulations. QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS: - • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Material Testing, or related field. • Minimum [10-15] years of experience as a Lab Technician in civil construction projects. • In-depth knowledge of material testing procedures for concrete, cement, soil, aggregates. • Experience with laboratory equipment, calibration, and troubleshooting. • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and standards. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Excellent communication, coordination, and reporting skills. • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records. • Strong organizational and time management skills.
