Senior IT Application Engineer Duration: initial contract until 31 December 2026 Workload: Full time hours Setup: Freelance (Daily Rate / Limited Company / Umbrella / Sole Trader) Sponsorship: Not Provided Location: Remote across the EU (quarterly visits to the client's office in Veldhoven may be required) The client is seeking a Senior IT Application Engineer to support and optimise enterprise applications within a Kubernetes-based environment, driving platform reliability, automation, and DevOps best practices across critical systems. Key Responsibilities: Operate, support, and improve applications running in Kubernetes environments. Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and software delivery processes. Manage Linux-based infrastructure and automate operational tasks. Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Ansible, and Helm. Support cloud-hosted environments, primarily within Microsoft Azure. Monitor application performance, incident response, and platform reliability. Collaborate with development, R&D, and cross-functional stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency. Drive continuous improvements across DevOps, SRE, and platform engineering practices. Must-Have Skills: 5+ years' experience in IT Application Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering. Strong experience with Kubernetes and Docker, including deployment and operational support. Hands-on experience with Azure cloud environments. Experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps and/or Atlassian Bamboo. Strong understanding of SDLC, source code management, and artifact management. Proficiency with Terraform, Ansible, and Helm. Linux administration and shell scripting expertise. Experience with monitoring, alerting, and incident management. Nice-to-Have: Python scripting and automation. Experience with JFrog Artifactory and SonarQube. Knowledge of Maven, Gradle, MSBuild, NuGet, npm, or pip. Experience integrating security tooling into CI/CD pipelines. Previous experience within commercial software engineering environments. Agile delivery experience.
