Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Senior IT Analyst Technical Infrastructure - Azure Platform Services - CAT IT Division
We are currently seeking a Senior Azure Cloud Engineer to join the Azure Platform Services team within the Caterpillar Information Technology Division. In this role, you will build, deploy, and support both IaaS and PaaS solutions across global Azure environments. You will act as a technical subject matter expert, contributing to cloud modernization, platform reliability, and automation. This role supports mission‑critical systems, demands strong engineering discipline, and offers opportunities to collaborate with senior architects and cross-functional cloud teams. What you will do
Cloud Engineering & Delivery
• Build, migrate, and manage Microsoft Azure IaaS and PaaS solutions, including VMs, VNets, App Services, Functions, Databases, Storage, and Integration Services.
• Deploy or integrate cloud technologies based on business partner requirements using automation-first approaches.
• Enhance, follow, and contribute to enterprise cloud designs, processes, and governance.
Technical Support & Problem Solving
• Serve as a technical SME for cloud infrastructure and platform services, providing troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance tuning across a complex global network.
• Support solutions running on Azure and work closely with senior engineers, architects, and global teams.
• Assist teams with documentation, training, onboarding, and platform usability.
Automation & DevOps
• Build automated solutions for infrastructure deployment using PowerShell, Python, YAML, ARM Templates, CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps / GitHub), Azure CLI, VBS, Java, NodeJS, JSON, Bash, Azure Portal.
• Contribute to standardized templates, repeatable deployment processes, and Infrastructure‑as‑Code practices .
Security, Compliance & Operational Excellence
• Apply secure-by-design standards, identity best practices (Managed Identity, RBAC, Key Vault), and network security patterns.
• Participate in LTA (Logical Technical Architecture) reviews, operational excellence practices, and cloud governance alignment.
• Support monitoring, logging, disaster recovery, backup, and vulnerability remediation.
What you will have
• 7+ years of Azure Cloud experience in application development, cloud operations, or infrastructure engineering.
• Hands-on expertise with Azure core services:
• IaaS (VMs, VNets, NSGs, Load Balancers, Storage, ASR)
• PaaS (App Services, Functions, Service Bus, Event Hub, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB)
• Experience automating deployments using PowerShell, Python, JSON, YAML, CI/CD, Azure DevOps (Microsoft VSTS).
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills across distributed systems and global network environments.
• Experience supporting or building cloud architectures in production environments.
• Ability to perform development/deployment assignments without close supervision.
• Ability to work directly on technical problem identification and resolution, including responding to off-shift and weekend support calls.
• Ability to deploy or integrate infrastructure technology components based on requirements gathered from customers.
• Ability to perform integrated testing and customer acceptance testing of components that require careful planning and execution to ensure timely, quality results.
• This position requires candidate to work a 5-day -a -week schedule in the office.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
• Experience with Azure infrastructure operations or applications development, with special emphasis in areas of networking, DNS, application services, security, distributed computing, databases, and storage
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related information technology degree
• Azure Certifications such as AZ-900, AZ-104, AZ-500, AI-900
• Experience using the SCRUM methodology
• Experience working with IT security on infrastructure or applications security compliance and security vulnerability remediation activities
• Strong verbal and written communication (English), teamwork, analytical, and interpersonal skills
