Description
Assala Gabon is a dynamic Oil and Gas Exploration and Production company committed to the sustainable development of its assets. We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Geologist to lead subsurface volumetric evaluations across our asset portfolio and to design well trajectories for new drilling programs. This role ensures alignment with geological targets while respecting operational and drilling constraints. The position requires close technical collaboration with the Operations Geology team, supporting drilling planning, real-time decision-making, and execution activities. The Senior Geologist will be embedded within one of our integrated asset development teams, reporting to the team leader, while also contributing across other assets as needed. Key activities Build and maintain Petrel static models for mature fields with high well density, including robust petrophysical property distribution modelling Actively participate in well-by-well and project reviews to support data-driven decision-making Analyse large volumes of geological data to identify sweet spots and optimise field development opportunities Identify, in collaboration with Petrophysics (PP), Reservoir Engineering (RE), and Production Engineering (PE), mature candidates for drilling and well optimisation (e.g. additional perforations, completion changes), and contribute to the preparation of supporting proposals to enhance reserves Ensure full compliance with company HSSE standards and promote a strong safety culture Critically challenge existing models, well correlations, and multidisciplinary interpretations to improve subsurface understanding Engage proactively with the team to drive continuous improvement and overall performance Operate responsibly, with a strong commitment to safety, integrity, and operational excellence Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology or related discipline (Master’s preferred); Minimum of 7 years’ experience as a Development Geologist; Strong hands-on experience and sedimentological interpretation; Previous exposure to West Africa and/or pre-salt reservoirs is a strong advantage. Proficiency in industry-standard geological and petrophysical software, including Interactive Petrophysics (IP) and Techlog; Advanced Petrel user with proven experience in mature field redevelopment and modelling; Strong ability to analyse and integrate large volumes of complex geological and dynamic reservoir data to identify sweet spots; Solid expertise in well log interpretation and determination of key petrophysical parameters; Familiarity with RST (Reservoir Saturation Tool) data and its application; Good cross-disciplinary understanding with practical knowledge of Reservoir Engineering, Petrophysics, and Operations;
