Description
BetterHelp, the world's largest online therapy service, is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join their Member Experience team. You will develop end-to-end features across their web platform, working with both frontend and backend technologies while collaborating with engineers and cross-functional teams to expand access to mental health care. What You'll Do • Develop full-stack features from design through production, owning the complete lifecycle of your work • Write clean, secure, readable, and scalable code using object-oriented principles and best practices • Develop new products in PHP and refactor existing PHP code to support scale and API integration • Design relational database schemas, write and optimize complex SQL queries • Build and integrate internal and external APIs, creating complex backend algorithms • Use CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap 3, jQuery, HTML5, CSS3/SASS, and React to implement frontend functionality • Profile and optimize both new and legacy code for performance • Collaborate across teams including product, marketing, and business strategy in an agile environment with continuous deployment What You Need • 5+ years of experience in web development solving challenging problems and implementing features from scratch • 3+ years of experience designing relational database schemas, writing complex SQL queries, and managing databases • Deep understanding of web development concepts and principles with demonstrated full-stack projects • Ability to design, develop, and launch a web application end-to-end • Comfortable working outside frameworks to understand underlying mechanics • Experience with web and SQL security best practices • Proficiency with git in a team environment • Ability to work in the US, travel to San Jose, California office up to three times per year, and attend one company-wide offsite • Quick learner with ability to pick up new skills independently Nice to Have • Work or internship experience in startups • Experience with LAMP or LEMP stack • Linux experience Base salary $130,000–$185,000 plus performance bonus, comprehensive benefits including free therapy, employee wellness programs, health/dental/vision coverage, 401k with employer matching, hardware/software allowance, and remote work with sponsored in-person bonding experiences
