Senior Field Service Engineer
Purpose of the Role
The Senior Field Service Engineer is responsible for carrying out the full duties of a Field Service Engineer while providing day-to-day technical leadership and operational support to the wider engineering team. The role is predominantly field-based, repairing, servicing and maintaining welfare equipment at customer sites, while acting as the first point of support and escalation for other engineers.
Responsibilities:
• Carry out servicing, maintenance, fault finding and repairs across the full range of welfare equipment at customer sites.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults safely and efficiently.
• Complete planned maintenance, breakdowns, inspections and emergency call-outs.
• Ensure work is completed in line with company standards, manufacturer specifications and health & safety requirements.
• Maintain high first-time fix rates and minimise repeat visits.
• Complete job documentation accurately and identify customer damage and recharge opportunities.
People Management Responsibilities
• Provide direct line management for a team of approximately 5 to 6 Field Service Engineers.
• Act as the first point of escalation for technical and operational support.
• Conduct regular 1-2-1s, probation reviews and performance reviews, setting objectives and supporting individual development.
• Manage attendance, annual leave and day-to-day people matters in line with company policy.
• Use site audits and inspections to coach, mentor and develop engineers to improve technical capability, productivity, quality and customer service.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and induction of new engineers.
• Foster a positive, accountable, high-performing team culture.
• Support the Field Service Engineering Manager with the day-to-day running of the engineering team.

Requirements
• Experience combined with relevant mechanical / electrical knowledge.
• Drivers licence.
• Attention to detail.
• Flexible with regards to travel, tasks performed and working hours.
• Ability to work alone or in a team.
