Contract Exploration Geologist - Diamond Drilling Program Cloncurry, QLD | Short-Term Contract | ~5 Months | FIFO East Coast Considered We are partnering with an exploration company preparing to commence an upcoming drilling program based out of Cloncurry and surrounding project areas to the north. They are seeking an experienced Contract Exploration Geologist to lead the program from an early August start through to the end of the year. The Opportunity You will take the lead on-site for the drilling program, supervising diamond drilling operations, managing geological logging and core processing, and directing field staff including a field assistant. This is a short-term contract of approximately five months, running from early August through to November/December, with strong scope for future work for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities Supervise diamond drilling operations across the program Complete detailed geological logging of drill core Oversee drill-core processing, sampling and QA/QC Supervise and direct field staff, including a field assistant Prepare and write drilling and end-of-program reports Liaise with management on program progress and technical findings Ensure all field activities are carried out safely and in line with site requirements About You Qualifications & Experience Degree in Geology or related discipline 5-10 years' exploration geology experience (10-15 years also considered) Exploration-focused background strongly preferred over mine-site geology experience Prior experience supervising diamond drilling programs and field crews Technical Skills Core logging and drill program supervision Core processing and sample management Strong technical report writing skills Personal Attributes Comfortable working and supervising teams in remote field conditions Strong communication and on-site leadership skills Available for an early August start What's on Offer Immediate involvement in an active drilling program, starting early August Approximately 5-month contract, running through to November/December Competitive daily contract rate based on experience Full transparency on rate breakdown, so you know exactly what you'll be paid Opportunity to work on an active exploration program in Queensland's Cloncurry region Location Based around Cloncurry and project areas to the north (Roadhouse). Preference for candidates based in Queensland; FIFO arrangements from elsewhere on the east coast will also be considered.
