Reports To :     Facilities Project Manager   Department :   Facility Management   Status :             Exempt   The Senior Director, Turf and Grounds provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the maintenance, performance, safety, and appearance of all outdoor playing fields, synthetic surfaces, grounds, and landscaped areas for the New York Football Giants. This role is responsible for ensuring that all practice and gameday playing surfaces meet or exceed NFL standards while supporting the organization's commitment to athlete safety, operational excellence, and facility presentation. The Senior Director will lead all aspects of turf and grounds management, including strategic planning, budgeting, personnel leadership, field maintenance, vendor management, and regulatory compliance. The position requires a highly skilled leader who can effectively manage day-to-day operations while developing long-term field management strategies in a demanding, high-performance environment.   Responsibilities Strategic leadership and planning:  Develop and implement long-term plans for all facility fields (3 outdoor grass fields and 1full indoor synthetic field, and a 60yd outdoor synthetic field), common landscaping areas, and other open spaces as designated. This includes planning and execution for the NFL football season and inclement weather planning. Budgeting and financial management:  Create and manage annual and long-term budgets for grounds operations, including capital expenditures for resodding, projects, equipment, and resources. Ensures consistency among facility fields and seeks to gain efficiencies where possible. Personnel management:  Supervise, mentor, and evaluate a team of staff involved in field(s) maintenance, groundskeeping, painting, and practice preparation. Participate in all aspects of talent management including hiring, training, and performance to build a high-performing department. Maintenance and operations oversight:  Direct the maintenance of all natural and synthetic turf fields, landscaped common areas, and irrigation at the training facility. This includes performing and directing tasks such as aeration, fertilization, painting and pest control for these areas. Compliance and safety:  Ensure all playing surfaces adhere to NFL-NFLPA Mandatory Practices and regulations as well as local, state, and federal regulations regarding health, safety, and environmental standards, including OSHA guidelines. Ensure that NFL fields are of the highest quality and always maintained to the standards required for professional NFL athletes. Manage and plan for poor, harsh and/or hazardous weather conditions. Vendor and contract management:  Oversee relationships with outside vendors and contractors for services and supplies as related to the grounds, ensuring fair pricing and quality of work. Cross-functional collaboration:  Work with other departments such as coaches, football operations, to coordinate schedules, logistics, and resources. Develop guidelines for field usage and partner with internal teams to collaborate. Emergency response:  Develop and implement emergency preparedness and disaster recovery plans for all outdoor facilities. Requirements Qualifications and Experience Education:   A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as turfgrass science, horticulture, or turf management is required. A master's degree or industry certifications such as Level 3 (Advanced) Certified Sports Field Manager is preferred. OSHA 10 certification or above is required. Experience:   10 or more years of progressive leadership experience in professional sports field management or grounds operations and management is required.
