Description
The role of the Senior Oracle Developer is pivotal within our IT team, tasked with the responsibility of conceptualizing, designing, and refining Oracle-based solutions that support and enhance the operational processes of David Jones. The ideal candidate for this role would be expected to bring a wealth of experience in Oracle database technologies and a strong understanding of business processes, enabling them to deliver resilient, scalable, and highly efficient database solutions tailored to the organisation's specific needs. What YOUR DAY LOOKS LIKE The key accountabilities for this role include: Database Design & Development Responsible for designing and implementing Oracle database solutions including creating data models, schemas, and database objects. Participate in SDLC such as requirements gathering, development, testing, and deployment of Oracle PL/SQL code, stored procedures, triggers, and packages. Optimize database performance through tuning of SQL scripts, indexing, and improving the data structure. System Integration Collaborate closely with teams across different functions to effectively integrate Oracle databases with various systems and applications. Ensure the integrity of the data and a smooth flow of information between systems. Technical Leadership Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers and other team members such as conducting reviews on the code, architecture and design to ensure that best practices and standards are followed. Support & Documentation Identify and resolve complex database issues, performance bottlenecks, and data inconsistencies. Create and maintain detailed documentation for database designs, processes, and procedures. Project Management Taking the lead and actively participating in various projects to ensure their successful and timely delivery. Work closely with delivery leads/managers and stakeholders to understand requirements and provide solutions that align with the business needs. Continuous Improvement Stay informed about the latest industry trends, advancements in technologies, and best practices for Oracle database development. Also, actively spot and suggest enhancements to database processes and technologies. Work Health & Safety Maintain a safe working environment for team members, contractors and visitors, and ensure that others are not put at risk Implement and adhere to WHS policies and procedures, guidelines and safe work practices within your area of responsibility; and complete all required WHS training Ensure that you consult and avoid introducing new hazards or breaches of WHS legislation when implementing new initiatives, systems, products, equipment or designs Report injuries or hazards as per policy and support return-to-work programs. What YOU’LL NEED TO THRIVE Experiences Minimum of 8-10 years of experience as an Oracle Developer with a strong record of successful database projects Technical Skills Strong Oracle Retail experience Expertise in PL/SQL, SQL, and database design principles Expertise in Oracle Forms, Reports Expertise in Oracle database and DB2 technologies Experience in APEX Experience in Shell Scripts Knowledgeable in Pro*C Experience in implementing DevOps for Database Deployment (CI/CD for Automated Deployment of Database scripts) Knowledge of Order Management System Familiarity with Workato, Kafka, Automic How WE MEASURE ACHIEVEMENT You will achieve this by delivering business and functional outcomes, in line with our thriving culture behaviours (detailed below).
