ALTEN Technology USA is an engineering company delivering solutions across aerospace, medical devices, robotics, automotive, and other industries. This role leads the development and maintenance of build systems, toolchain infrastructure, and software quality systems for a complex C++ robotics platform, ensuring reliability, reproducibility, and traceability throughout the development lifecycle.
What You'll Do
• Design, implement, and own the build system architecture and toolchain configuration for a large-scale C++ robotics software stack
• Develop and maintain robust build infrastructure using modern build technologies such as CMake and Bazel
• Establish and manage comprehensive software quality tooling, including static code analysis, Address Sanitizer, Thread Sanitizer, and Undefined Behavior Sanitizer
• Enable and maintain reproducible production builds, allowing teams to rebuild software components from specific points in time and recreate historical build environments
• Improve CI/CD effectiveness by enhancing build reliability, test signal quality, failure diagnostics, and developer feedback loops
• Implement artifact management and version traceability processes to provide visibility into software lineage, dependencies, and release history
• Collaborate with software, robotics, infrastructure, and systems engineering teams to establish scalable engineering best practices
What You Need
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
• Extensive experience designing and maintaining C++ build systems using CMake, Bazel, or similar enterprise-scale build frameworks
• Strong hands-on experience with static analysis tools, ASan, TSan, and UBSan deployment and troubleshooting
• Deep understanding of reproducible and hermetic build methodologies, dependency management, build environment isolation, and software release engineering
• Proven experience building and maintaining modern CI/CD pipelines
• Expertise in toolchain management, compiler configuration, and cross-compilation environments
• Strong debugging, automation, and systems-level problem-solving skills
Nice to Have
• Experience supporting embedded Linux or ARM-based cross-compilation environments
• Knowledge of software supply-chain security, artifact provenance, and software bill of materials (SBOM) practices
• Experience within robotics, autonomous systems, aerospace, automotive, medical devices, or other safety-critical software domains
• Familiarity with containerized build environments and infrastructure-as-code practices
$145,000–$185,000 per year; actual salary dependent on location, experience, qualifications, skills, education, training. Benefits included (comprehensive package mentioned but specific benefits not detailed).
