This role is central to our preclinical research team and involves building CDx and clinically relevant PDx platforms and hands-on work applying these models with nuclear medicine (PET/SPECT) and computed tomography (CT), MRI, Bioluminescence Imaging. The successful candidate will also provide technical support across a range of in vivo studies including efficacy, biodistribution, pharmacokinetics, tolerability, and dosimetry and ex vivo analysis of target tissues of relevance in oncology, xenograft models. Key Responsibilities Essential Functions: Aid in the management of the Animal Care Facility (ACF) Ordering of animals and supplies Sanitization and equipment maintenance Follow, execute and write laboratory specific SOP’s related to role Assess study protocols for experimental details Participate in protocol reviews Lead projects and schedule necessary In-Vivo tasks Meet and determine timelines related to protocol execution Assess animal health conditions, communicate with Attending Veterinarian (AV) and provide necessary animal health care Learn technical/theoretical applications involved in executing pre-clinical studies Cell culture, inoculation, aseptic technique and contamination prevention Proficiency monitoring tumor volume, body weight, clinical signs and model- dependent humane endpoints Maintain clear and concise laboratory notes Perform data quality control and upload relevant documents upon study completion Work with IACUC to implement and ensure compliance of animal use protocols Preferred functioning set of classical skills: Test article administration IV, IP, SC, IM, PO Perfusion Compound handling Tissue resection Biological sampling procedures Execution of: Efficacy studies Biodistribution studies Pharmacokinetic studies Toxicokinetic studies Xenograft models Mentor and train new staff Work with radioactive and BSL2 samples and test articles Gamma counting Sample disposition Proper handling and disposal of associated materials Communicate details of your work with scientists and managers Provide husbandry support and routine health checks as needed May assist under supervision in the operation of PET/SPECT/CT/MRI Other duties as assigned Highly Desired Skills Ability to perform minor surgical procedures Microdissection of tissues (lymph nodes, specific brain sections, etc) Experience working with anesthesia Experience working with radioactivity Experience working with BSL2 animals and samples Experience with IACUC/Animal Inventory management system (preferably Cayuse) Experience with PET/SPECT/MRI/BLI Experience, Education, and Certifications Bachelor +5yrs experience OR MS +3yrs experience in Biology, Animal Science or a related field Ability to mentor junior staff Multitasking, organizational and time management skills Comfort with various computer operating systems and programs Strong written and oral communication skills Availability to work some weekends as required Ability to lift 50 pounds This role is based in the Perceptive office/lab located in Needham, MA. The annual base salary range for this role is $52,520- $97,537. This range represents the anticipated initial annual salary and may vary depending on several factors including the candidate’s experience and skills and may be subject to market rate adjustment.
