Description Do you enjoy helping construction companies maintain accurate financial records, improve profitability, and gain visibility into their operations? Trout CPA is seeking a Senior Associate to join our Client Accounting Services (CAS) team and support construction clients through outsourced accounting, financial reporting, and advisory services. In this role, you'll work directly with contractors, developers, and construction business owners to manage day-to-day accounting functions, job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, and financial analysis. You'll help clients make informed business decisions by delivering accurate financial information and identifying opportunities to improve processes and performance. Key Responsibilities • Manage accounting functions for construction clients, including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and month-end close • Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports • Maintain and analyze job costing data to support project profitability and decision-making • Assist with work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, revenue recognition, and project tracking • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management initiatives • Review accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll transactions • Prepare and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational reports • Collaborate with project managers, business owners, and internal teams to address financial challenges and opportunities • Assist clients with accounting system optimization, workflow improvements, and process enhancements • Mentor and support team members as needed Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably serving construction clients • Knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job costing and WIP reporting • Experience with QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, Sage 300 Timberline, Foundation, Knowify, or similar accounting software • Strong understanding of financial statement preparation and account reconciliations • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills • Ability to manage multiple client engagements and deadlines • Strong communication and relationship-building skills • CPA certification or CPA-track preferred Why You'll Love This Role • Industry Focus – Work with a variety of construction companies and gain valuable industry expertise • Client Interaction – Build trusted relationships and serve as an extension of your clients' accounting teams • Variety & Growth – Support multiple clients, projects, and business challenges • Professional Development – Expand your accounting, technology, and advisory skills • Team-Oriented Culture – Collaborate with experienced professionals in a supportive environment • Meaningful Impact – Help construction businesses improve operations, profitability, and long-term success
