Dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant – Committed to Enhancing Educational Experiences for All Students Position: SEN Teaching Assistant Location: Coventry Contract Type: Full-time, ongoing Salary: £95 – £105 per day The School/Role: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Coventry on a full-time, long-term supply basis. This position involves providing 1:1 support to a student with special educational needs, helping them navigate their learning journey in a nurturing and inclusive environment. Key Responsibilities: • Vigilant Supervision: Ensure the safety of the child and others, particularly in managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour. • Trust-Building: Establish a strong, trusting relationship with the student to foster a positive and effective learning environment. • Sensory Support: Assist the student in engaging with sensory activities, including time in the sensory room, to support their emotional and educational development. • Physical Activity: Facilitate daily outdoor activities, ensuring the student has opportunities for physical movement to promote well-being and positive behaviour. Requirements: • Qualifications: Qualified Teaching Assistant or a strong background in SEN support. • Specialised Experience: Familiarity with PECS, Makaton, and experience working with students with PMLD, SLD, MLD, ASD, or other complex needs. • Safeguarding: Level 1 safeguarding certification. • References and Documentation: Recent school-based references, valid photo ID (driving licence or passport), and a full enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
