About the role:
Justteachers is seeking a resilient Teaching Assistant to join a Secondary SEMH school in Rugby. The full-time post is due to start in September 2026 and expected to last until the end of the academic year, potentially into September 2027.
The independent setting provides key support to students aged 13 to 19 with additional behavioural needs. They focus on providing a calming environment to young people with complex anxiety associated with autism spectrum disorder and other anxiety-related conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide a safe, calm and nurturing learning environment promoting positive mental health and wellbeing.
• Help pupils build their confidence and abilities, maximising their potential.
• Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual learning plans.
• Encourage independence, self-esteem, and positive behaviour.
• Use de-escalation techniques to calm behaviour in stressful situations.
Pre-requisites:
• Teaching Assistant Qualification or equivalent.
• Proven experience supporting children with behavioural needs or in a mental health role is desirable.
• Two education or care-based references.
