About the role Would you like to help keep our children safe on today’s busy roads? We’re looking for people with an outward looking, caring and professional approach. The ideal person will naturally go above and beyond; acknowledging that our children and pedestrians value a friendly face and someone who is thoughtful and considerate. To succeed in the role, you will need: • the ability to follow established procedures, enforcing these to the public to ensure everyone is kept safe • strong communication skills • knowledge of vehicle stopping times, and conditions that may affect these such as weather • the ability to remain calm in difficult situations • basic numeracy and literacy skills in order to complete paperwork This is a part time, term time only role and depending on the location you will work between 5 and 10 hours per week covering morning and afternoon patrols. You will be required to stand for extended periods, holding the STOP sign (‘lollipop’ pole) in all weather conditions. “Being a school crossing patrol brings a broader smile from within me.
