Role Overview This internship offers a graduate-level counselling student the chance to work directly with children and adolescents in a warm, inclusive school environment. You will support the School Counsellor in delivering one-on-one and small-group sessions, helping students navigate personal, social, and academic challenges while building self-awareness and practical coping strategies. Your contribution helps sustain a caring culture where every learner feels understood, respected, and empowered to grow. Key Responsibilities • Conduct supervised counselling sessions with students individually or in small groups, focusing on emotional, social, and educational concerns. • Guide students through goal-setting, action planning, and reflective exercises that strengthen self-awareness and resilience. • Maintain accurate, confidential counselling records in line with school policies and safeguarding expectations. • Collaborate with teachers and the counselling team during student support meetings and case discussions. • Assist in scheduling sessions, organising programme data, and preparing materials for counselling activities. • Help plan and deliver awareness campaigns, parent workshops, and well-being events for the wider school community. • Participate in biweekly supervision and attend reflective practice sessions to deepen your clinical skills. • Contribute to a school-wide culture of belonging, inclusion, and respect through everyday interactions with students and staff. Requirements & Qualifications • Currently enrolled in a Master’s degree programme in Counselling, Psychology, or a closely related field. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with children, adolescents, and adults. • Demonstrated emotional intelligence, empathy, and resilience when supporting young people through difficult moments. • Excellent organisational abilities and a serious commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical boundaries. • Comfort working collaboratively within a diverse, learner-centred environment that values inclusion and equal opportunity. • A reflective, adaptable mindset with genuine openness to feedback and continuous professional development. • Alignment with the school’s mission of nurturing the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally.
