Description
The Client
A privately owned, owner-managed Scottish business, established more than two decades and profitable throughout. It works in and around IT, serving major public and private-sector organisations across the country — with loyal, long-standing customers and high retention, particularly in the public sector. A base that keeps paying, not a churn machine.
Why the role exists now:
• The business’s capability has expanded, and the senior team are stepping back from day-to-day sales to pursue bigger opportunities across the group.
• That’s freed the space, for the first time, to bring in outside sales leadership to take the whole function on.
• The people who built it believe it can be twice the size. This is the role that gets it there.
The Role
Take over and lead the entire sales function — and set its direction. A genuine leadership seat: you’d report to the owners directly, not through three layers of them, and the plan would be yours to write.
What you’d own:
• Which sectors and accounts to go after, and where the growth comes from.
• How deals are priced and structured.
• How to weight the two sales motions — long-cycle public-sector tenders and frameworks, against faster, relationship-led private-sector selling to large IT users.
• Who you hire, and how you build the team.
You’d inherit an established customer base and team, with real headroom to grow. What happens next is largely down to you.
The Candidate
An established sales leader — head of sales, national sales manager or sales director — ready to set direction, not just deliver someone else’s.
• You’ve hit the numbers for years, but you want out of the corporate machine and a genuine change of scene.
• You lead with a steady hand: you set a clear course, listen before changing things, and respect what already works.
• This business values judgement over ego — respect earns influence far faster than noise here. If you’d charge in to tear up what works to make a point, it isn’t the place for you.
The Reward
• £100,000 basic, plus bonus and car package.
• Direct access to the owners, and decisions that get made fast.
• The autonomy most senior roles can’t offer: a whole function to shape as your own.
Five years from now, this is either a sales function someone else shaped — or one with your fingerprints all over it. A proven business with the room to double, and the freedom to decide how. Get in touch, in complete confidence.
