Description
Job Title: Sales and Marketing Manager
Location: Barnsley
Job type: Full time, Permanent .
Pay: £40,000
Our client is looking for a sales Manager to lead their internal sales team. This is a people-management and performance role at its core, someone who can lead through others, set clear standards, drive the right behaviours and build a sales environment where the team knows what good looks like.
The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day leadership of the sales team, driving conversion, embedding CRM discipline, and supporting customer experience. There will be light-touch involvement in marketing and platform performance, flagging issues and feeding back on lead quality, but this is not a role that owns marketing delivery or ecommerce platform management.
As a Sales and Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for:
· Lead, manage and develop the internal sales team, ensuring enquiries are handled properly and quotes are followed up consistently
· Create a clear sales rhythm — daily stand-ups, regular 1:1s, team reviews, coaching and clear expectations around behaviours, activity and results
· Support the team hands-on where needed, and make sure standards are maintained day to day
· Ensure all leads, quotes, orders and customer activity are logged, tracked and followed up accurately through the CRM
· Use sales data to understand performance, spot gaps and drive follow-up action — enquiry volumes, quote progress, conversion rates
· Promote a customer-first culture across the sales team, ensuring professional, timely and consistent communication
· Support the team with escalated customer queries and complaints
· Feed customer feedback (reviews, NPS, complaints) back into the business to improve performance
· Act as the link between the sales team and marketing/platform partners — flagging issues, feeding back on lead quality, and passing on customer insight
· Not responsible for managing marketing agencies, campaign strategy, or platform administration — this sits with dedicated marketing/ecommerce resource
The ideal candidate will be:
· At least 2-3 years' experience managing a sales, internal sales or similar customer-facing team
· Strong people-management and coaching skills
· Experience working with CRM systems
· Good understanding of sales process, conversion and customer follow-up
· Comfortable managing performance through KPIs, 1:1s and regular team rhythms
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Confident dealing with customer issues and escalations
