Road Marking Specialist
Job Purpose
The postholder will undertake road marking and surface marking works on the highway network safely, efficiently, and to the required standards. The post holder will operate specialist road marking vehicles and equipment in accordance with policies, client specifications, and statutory requirements, ensuring the safe and effective delivery of road marking operations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Apply permanent and temporary road markings using thermoplastic and paint materials.
• Operate road marking machinery, including hand applicators and mechanical extrusion systems.
• Prepare work areas by cleaning, drying, and priming surfaces prior to marking.
• Set out works in accordance with design drawings, standards, and site instructions.
• Install, maintain, and remove temporary traffic management (cones, barriers, signs) in line with Chapter 8 requirements.
• Undertake line removal operations using approved techniques.
• Complete daily vehicle and plant checks, reporting any defects or maintenance requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of work completed, including materials used and time on site.
• Ensure all works comply with relevant safety, environmental, and quality management procedures.
• Liaise with supervisors, team members, and site representatives to ensure efficient project delivery.
• Maintain vehicles, plant, and tools in a clean, serviceable condition.
Knowledge & Experience
• Demonstrable experience in road marking operations, including new installations of road markings to Highways specifications and interpreting designs and technical drawings.
• Demonstrable experience in the use of all plant and equipment involved in line marking operations.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements relevant to highways work.
The shift times will be as follows – 07:30 – 16:15 (8hrs – 30mins break) 16:00 – 00:30 (8hrs – 30mins break)
£17.97 per hour
