Summary Performs assigned duties as required by the Fore/Competent Person related to the handling of tools, materials, and necessary equipment in support of the Right Of Way Department. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Operate assigned vehicle and equipment as directed. • Perform operator maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment. • Control traffic passing near, in, or around work zones. • Maintain tools and equipment in accordance to Operator's Manual specifications. • Adjust, repair, and perform operator maintenance on assigned equipment and notify supervisors when machinery malfunctions. • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials. • Gather and remove litter, trimmings, clippings, limbs, logs, and trees as required. • Manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery. • Operate shredding and chipping equipment, and feed limbs and brush into the machines. • Load debris and refuse onto trucks and haul it away for disposal. • Use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, chain saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or machete. • Clean, sharpen, and lubricate tools and equipment. • Observe where distribution lines are during work periods and avoid standing, walking, driving, or working near them when trimmers are working above them. • Prune, cut down, and spray trees, shrubs, fence rows, etc. as directed by the superintendent. • Cut away dead and excess branches from trees at ground level and clear branches around power lines and guy wires using hand or power tools, and chainsaws. • Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, fences, driveways, parking lots, or other ground features as necessary and return them to their original appearance before departure. • Attach from implements such as plows, discs, sprayers to tractors using bolts, and hand tools. • Perform all other duties assigned.
