Respiratory Therapy Technician Job Description Respiratory Therapy Technician is responsible for reporting to the Manager of Respiratory Therapy or Preceptor and works under the proximal supervision of a licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner. Our Respiratory Therapy Technician performs care including treating patients with cardiopulmonary disabilities and/or diseases by providing basic and selected advanced respiratory therapy, diagnostics and monitoring to stable non-CCU patients in accordance with physician orders. Our Respiratory Therapy Technician does not provide advanced respiratory care in the CCU, ER, and Nursery. Requirement: Current student in an RRT program Hours: PRN, varies as needed around school schedule Responsibilities Assembles, checks for proper function, identifies malfunctions of equipment, and takes action to correct malfunctions of equipment., Conducts therapeutic procedures to achieve adequate spontaneous and artificial ventilation., Conducts therapeutic procedures to achieve maintenance of patient airway to achieve removal of bronchial pulmonary secretions., Evaluates and monitors patient’s response to respiratory care., Explains plan, therapy, and goals to patient. Maintains records of communication., Initiates, conducts, or modifies respiratory care techniques in an emergency setting., Performs procedures as listed in general competency checklists and interprets results., Protects patient from nosocomial infection by adhering to infection control policies and procedures., Reviews data inpatient record and performs procedures based on all available patient information. Collects and evaluates additional pertinent clinical information by assessing patient’s overall cardiopulmonary status., Selects and obtains equipment and assures cleanliness of equipment appropriate to the respiratory care plan.
