Hours: 4 x shifts per week per week – rota of Days & Nights. (No sleep shifts). Contract Type: Permanent Locations: Huyton or Cronton Salary: £33,696 per annum Essential: Level 3 Children & Young People About you: You will have a minimum of ‘1 years’ experience of supporting young people within a residential setting. Post holders will be required to work a minimum of 48 hours per week 12-hour shifts, including waking nights and weekends on a rota basis. Experience of direct work with young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties is essential and preferable a Diploma Level 3/4 Children and Young People’s Workforce or recognised professional qualification in therapeutic work with young people. The homes do not have sleep-ins, waking nights for any night shifts, this is more beneficial to staff due to their working hours being completed within 4 days. This enables them to pick up any extra shifts to top up their wages, or alternatively, being able to have the days free for family commitments. The role is for over 21 years of age. Requirements: • An understanding of the developmental needs (physical, emotional, intellectual, social and educational) of young people. • Understanding of Child Protection issues and procedures. Social Care Services available to young people and their families • Working within a team & Ability to demonstrate sensitivity and understanding. • Ability to motivate self and others to meet time and performance goals. • Ability to deal with emotional stress. • Ability to be flexible. • Good interpersonal skills – relate well to others (young people and staff at all levels). As a Residential Support Worker, you will: • Respond to and meet the identified needs of children/young people as outlined in individual care plans and as agreed with the manager. • Work in partnership with young people, their families, social workers and other relevant agencies, in meeting the needs of young people. • Ensure that work with children/young people is in keeping with legislative, procedural and good practice requirements. • Ensure that the safety and welfare of young people is paramount. • Participate in implementing, monitoring and reviewing children/young people’s care/health and education plans where appropriate and to contribute in planning meetings and reviews as require. • Understand and be familiar with all relevant legislation guidance policies procedures in relation to safeguarding young people. • Promote the development of a comfortable physical environment, which is conducive to good social care practice and in line with standards and guidance.
