Description
Waste Connections is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious  Railroad Heavy Equipment Operator  to join our team. This role is responsible for operating heavy equipment to load, unload, and stack intermodal containers from railcars and trucks. The ideal candidate will have experience with reach stackers, a strong understanding of rail yard operations, and a commitment to safety and efficiency. Pay range; $20.00 to $23.00 an hour DOE The position is a Day Shift working Monday through Friday 7am-5pm  with  Saturdays 7am-5pm working 45-55 hours a week. Key Responsibilities: • Operate reach stacker equipment to move containers in and out of railcars and trucks. • Perform daily equipment inspections and report any issues or maintenance needs. • Communicate effectively with ground personnel, dispatchers, and supervisors. • Follow all safety protocols and company procedures. • Maintain accurate records of container movements and equipment usage. • Assist with general yard duties as needed. • Assist with tarping and lidding operation. • Housekeeping and manual labor responsibilities. Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent. • Minimum 1–2 years of experience operating reach stackers or similar equipment. • Familiarity with rail yard operations and intermodal logistics. • Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions. • Strong attention to detail and situational awareness. • Good communication and teamwork skills. Physical Requirements: • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment. • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally. • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment. Preferred Skills: • Knowledge of container types and handling procedures. • OSHA safety training or equivalent.
