The Quantitative Research Analyst in the Multi-Asset Solutions (MAS) team at Wells Fargo Asset Management (WFAM) will assist the MAS team in developing their quantitative research tools and capabilities. Specifically, these capabilities include building, and automating portfolio construction, management, and reporting processes. Portfolio construction would include implementing and using a multi-asset risk model, signal construction, strategic and tactical asset allocation and optimization using large datasets of market, securities, holding and related information. Portfolio management processes include using trading signals to rebalance portfolios, trade generation, trade implementation and monitoring trade execution. Reporting includes aesthetically pleasing, interactive data visualization of portfolio and performance data.
We’re looking for someone passionate about quantitative analysis as well as practicing best software design principles. As an ideal candidate, you will have experience developing portfolio management, trading and reporting processes and tools in a multi-asset setting, with a strong background in statistical data analysis, programing (R, Python), software lifecycle (concept, design, build, deploy, test, and support; (GitHub), data visualization (DevExpress Dash Boar or Tableau), familiarity with database design and usage of SQL and deep knowledge of modern portfolio theory and financial datasets. You may either have strong background in software development and demonstrated a keen interest in portfolio management team while being a prodigious, disciplined, coder.
Responsibilities:
• Under the direction of senior members of the MAS team and working in close collaboration with IT:
• Design, create and maintain a technology solution suite to automate our portfolio construction, management, trading and reporting
• Develop and maintain appropriate datasets for persistent storage and retrieval of business data
• Create data visualizations
• Participate and contribute to MAS investment strategy research.
Market Skills and Certifications
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Finance or a related quantitative field.
• Work experience supporting a multi-asset portfolio management team in either a quantitative analyst or software development role.
• Proven knowledge of R, Python, GitHub, SQL, Data Visualization.
Desired Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Finance or a related quantitative field; advanced degree preferred.
• CFA or ASA designation a plus
• Strong programming skills and experience
• Work experience as a quantitative analyst in a multi-asset portfolio setting with proven software development skills
