A growing leader in commercial architectural millwork is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to oversee all material procurement, vendor relationships, and inventory management across multiple high-end projects. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the right materials are available at the right time—while controlling costs and supporting efficient production.

Key Responsibilities:
Procurement & Project Support:
• Oversee and manage all material purchasing for active millwork projects
• Review shop drawings, material approvals, and specifications to ensure accurate ordering
• Perform material takeoffs as needed to support timely procurement
• Coordinate material requests from shop staff through structured workflows
Vendor Management & Cost Control:
• Source, evaluate, and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers
• Obtain competitive quotes for materials, hardware, and specialty items
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and analyze market trends
• Maintain and update vendor database, including preferred vendors
Inventory Management:
• Oversee monthly and quarterly inventory processes for materials, hardware, and consumables
• Maintain accurate inventory tracking systems (Smartsheets or similar platforms)
• Ensure proper stock levels to avoid production delays or overstocking
Systems & Process Management:
• Manage and maintain purchasing and material tracking systems
• Ensure all material orders are accurately logged and tracked from order to receipt
• Maintain up-to-date material cost data for estimating and job costing
• Track outsourced work orders and coordinate internal pickups as needed
Receiving & Logistics Coordination:
• Oversee the receiving and verification of inbound materials and shipments
• Ensure materials are properly checked in, documented, and distributed
• Coordinate returns and shipments (FedEx, UPS, etc.) as needed
Reporting & Documentation:
• Prepare monthly reports on material costs, inventory, and vendor data
• Maintain material reference databases and cost sheets for estimating
• Track and verify material invoices for accuracy and proper job costing
Leadership & Collaboration:
• Collaborate closely with Production, Project Management, Engineering, and Estimating teams
• Support shop operations by assisting with work orders, packing slips, and documentation when needed
• Help develop and improve purchasing processes and systems for efficiency and accuracy
Qualifications:
• 3–5+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in millwork, woodworking, or manufacturing
• Strong understanding of materials used in woodworking (sheet stock, hardware, finishes, etc.)
• Experience reading and interpreting architectural and shop drawings
• Proven ability to manage vendors, negotiate pricing, and control costs
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and tracking systems (Smartsheets or ERP systems preferred)
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and communication skills
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
