We are currently hiring a Protection and Control Relay Tech based out of our Toronto area operations. This full-time, field based position requires working rotational shifts out of town . We are looking for a detail-driven professional with excellent communication skills and the ability to navigate complex commissioning challenges across utility, industrial, and power generation environments. Core Duties: • Execute testing and commissioning of MV/HV protection and control schemes for utility, oil & gas, and power generation facilities. • Conduct relay injection testing using advanced test equipment (e.g., Omicron CMC356, CMC500) on microprocessor relays and IEDs. • Perform SCADA point verification and testing. • Review and interpret technical drawings; troubleshoot and resolve field issues. • Compile and deliver commissioning reports and project documentation. • Contribute to the preparation of commissioning procedures and work instructions. • Follow all safety protocols in line with corporate, client, and industry requirements. • Interface with clients to address technical questions and confirm issue resolutions. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Electrician Journeyman Ticket, or Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma from a recognized institution. • 4+ years of relay testing experience focused on protection and controls within the electrical utilities sector. • Working knowledge of Omicron CMC356, CMC500, or comparable advanced relay test sets. • Exceptional attention to detail paired with strong analytical and problem solving skills. • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. • Competency with Microsoft Office and standard computer applications. • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle concurrent priorities. • Availability to work extended periods away from home. • Valid driver's license with a clean record. • Legal authorization to work in Canada is required; VISA sponsorship is not provided.
