ABOUT THE POSITION The Finance and Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of Prosperity Now and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the organization’s financial records and reporting. Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Finance staff, and cross-functional teams, this hands-on role oversees the month-end and year-end close processes, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, and compliance with applicable accounting standards, grant and contract requirements, and organizational policies. Reporting to the CFO, the Finance and Accounting Manager serves as a key financial partner to Finance, Business Development, and Program staff, supporting budgeting, forecasting, grant and contract financial management, and internal and external financial reporting. The role provides oversight of restricted grant accounting, cost allocations, financial compliance, and the development and maintenance of strong internal controls. The Finance and Accounting Manager also plays an important role in strengthening the organization’s financial infrastructure by improving accounting processes, increasing efficiency, and ensuring that financial information is accurate, accessible, and useful for decision-making. The successful candidate will combine strong technical accounting expertise with a collaborative and service-oriented approach and the ability to translate financial requirements into practical guidance for colleagues across the organization. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES General Accounting and Finance Manage day-to-day accounting and financial operations, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial records and processes. Lead the monthly and year-end close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, allocations, and other closing activities. Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure transactions are accurately recorded, properly supported, and classified in accordance with GAAP, organizational policies, and applicable funding requirements. Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial statements, including the statement of financial position, statement of activities, cash flow reports, and other management reports Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including timely vendor payments, customer and funder billings, collections, and reconciliation of related accounts. Prepare and review reconciliations of bank accounts and significant balance sheet accounts, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, grants and contracts, and other key accounts. Oversee accounting for payroll and related liabilities and ensure appropriate recording and allocation of personnel costs. Support cash flow monitoring and treasury activities, including maintaining visibility into cash balances, anticipated receipts, and upcoming obligations. Audit, Compliance, and Reporting Coordinate the annual financial statement audit and other financial reviews, including preparation of audit schedules, supporting documentation, and responses to auditor requests. Serve as a primary day-to-day liaison with external auditors and coordinate the timely completion of audit requirements across the organization.
