Property & Casualty Underwriter Zurich Insurance is seeking an experienced Property & Casualty Underwriter to join its commercial underwriting team. This position is responsible for evaluating insurance applications, analyzing risk exposures, determining policy terms, and maintaining a profitable portfolio of commercial business. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, underwriting expertise, and the ability to build productive relationships with brokers and clients. As a Property & Casualty Underwriter, you will play a critical role in assessing business risks, reviewing financial information, and making informed underwriting decisions that support company growth and profitability. You will work closely with brokers, risk engineers, and account management teams to deliver customized insurance solutions for commercial clients. This role offers the opportunity to work with complex commercial accounts across various industries while contributing to strategic underwriting initiatives. Job Responsibilities • Evaluate commercial insurance submissions and underwriting applications. • Analyze risk exposures, financial information, and business operations. • Determine coverage eligibility, pricing, terms, and conditions. • Develop and manage a profitable portfolio of commercial accounts. • Collaborate with brokers and agents to provide underwriting solutions. • Review loss history, risk reports, and industry trends. • Negotiate coverage terms and pricing within underwriting authority. • Maintain compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. • Support business development and client retention efforts. • Prepare underwriting reports and portfolio performance analyses. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field preferred. • 3+ years of property and casualty underwriting experience preferred. • Strong analytical and risk assessment abilities. • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. • Knowledge of commercial insurance products and underwriting principles. • Ability to evaluate complex business risks. • Strong organizational and time management skills. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and underwriting systems. Preferred Qualifications • Commercial Lines underwriting experience. • Professional insurance designations such as CPCU or AU. • Experience handling middle-market or large commercial accounts. • Financial statement analysis skills. • Strong negotiation and decision-making capabilities.
