Contract: Fixed-term, 2 years (with possibility of renewal) About Vi Agroforestry Vi Agroforestry is a leading non-governmental organisation dedicated to empowering smallholder farmers through sustainable agriculture and climate-smart land management. We are now recruiting Project Officers for the Mount Elgon Livelihoods Project (MELP). Position Overview The successful candidates will support smallholder farmers in implementing sustainable agriculture and climate-smart land management practices, strengthen farmer organisations, facilitate project activities, and promote climate change adaptation and mitigation. Available Duty Stations • Mount Elgon (1 position) • Kabuchai/Cheptais (1 position) • Kanduyi/Webuye (1 position) • Kwanza/Endebess (1 position) • Saboti (1 position) Key Responsibilities • Facilitate the adoption of agroforestry, sustainable agriculture, and climate-smart land management (SALM) practices among smallholder farmers. • Strengthen farmer organisations and community groups for effective project implementation. • Plan, coordinate, and monitor project activities in line with organisational goals. • Promote climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies within farming communities. • Engage with stakeholders at local and county levels to ensure alignment and reporting. • Prepare timely reports and maintain project documentation. Qualifications and Experience • Education: Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Extension, Natural Resource Management, or a related field. • Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an NGO setting. • Technical expertise: Proven experience in agroforestry, SALM, climate change, and community development. • Project management: At least 2 years of project management experience. • Skills: Strong stakeholder engagement, reporting, and communication skills.
