Description
Ready Eats is a catering company based in Huntingdon. We are looking for an organised and reliable Production Kitchen Assistant to join our nursery meals team which prepares nutritious meals for approximately 20 nurseries each week. The successful candidate will be responsible for large-scale meal preparation, maintaining high food safety standards, and supporting the accurate picking and dispatch of nursery orders. You will be working 40 hours a week, from 5 am until 1 pm, Monday to Friday. This is a permanent position. The rate of pay is £12.71 an hour. Responsibilities Prepare and cook large batches of healthy nursery meals in line with weekly menus and dietary requirements Ensure all meals are prepared to a high standard of quality, consistency, and hygiene Follow allergen, food safety, and HACCP procedures at all times Portion, label, and package meals correctly for nursery delivery Pick and organise orders accurately for dispatch to multiple nursery sites Assist with stock rotation, deliveries, and kitchen inventory management Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, storage, and dispatch areas Work efficiently to meet production schedules and delivery deadlines Support the wider kitchen team with daily operational tasks Requirements Previous experience in batch cooking, catering, or commercial kitchen environments Knowledge of food hygiene and allergen control procedures Ability to work in a fast-paced production kitchen Strong organisational skills and attention to detail Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate preferred Desirable Experience preparing meals for children or within nursery/school catering Experience with order picking, packing, or dispatch operations Benefits Company pension Staff meals provided Training and development opportunities Supportive team environment
