Description
About the role UPI is the most consequential payment rail in the world by volume, and consumer UPI is where the experience is made or broken. We are hiring a PM to own the full consumer UPI surface at AndPayments from the moment a user creates a VPA to the moment a recurring mandate settles quietly in the background. You will operate as a TPAP-side product owner, sitting at the intersection of NPCI scheme requirements, PSP bank integrations, payment aggregators, and the merchant-acceptance layer. Right now, we are in the middle of building the consumer UPI stack from the ground up — scheme certifications, dispute infrastructure, and credit-on-UPI flows are all live priorities. The PM who joins owns these, not inherits them from someone else. This is a high-ownership IC role. There is no team to delegate upward to, no playbook that covers everything you will encounter, and no ambiguity about who is accountable. You will own the full UPI consumer experience: how a user onboards, how a mandate settles, how a dispute resolves at midnight. That is yours to build and improve. The problem is large and structurally underserved. Most payment tooling for Indian businesses was built for the top 1%. You will build it for the 99%. What you'll do Consumer Journeys & Scheme Products Own the end-to-end product roadmap for the TPAP surface: P2P, P2M, mandate management (one-time and recurring), UPI Lite, RuPay credit card on UPI, CLoU (Credit Line on UPI), and UPI One World. Define and own consumer journeys end-to-end — onboarding, VPA creation, bank account and wallet linking, account discovery, and KYC — so that first use is fast, failure rates are low, and drop-off is understood and actioned. Own scheme feature adoption decisions: evaluate feasibility, write the specs, and execute launch for UPI 2.0 overlays, credit-on-UPI, and delegate payments. Own BBPS bill payments and recharges: biller category coverage, scheduled payments, failure handling, and reconciliation. Own the UPI credit line product (RuPay CC on UPI): linking flows, credit limit display, statement integrations, and repayment experience. Own UPI Lite: on-device wallet setup, top-up mechanics, offline transaction support, and balance management. Own Account Aggregator and consent management flows: AA linkage, consent lifecycle, data-sharing UX, and revocation. Data, Observability & Risk Own transaction history and spend analytics surfaces: categorisation logic, export, statements, and user-facing insights. Define API contracts, event schemas, and data models with architecture and engineering — and hold the line on quality before downstream teams build on them. Define SLAs, observability requirements, and incident escalation playbooks for consumer-facing UPI flows. Own the outcome when things go wrong, not just the specification. Make data-driven decisions and actively democratise product metrics across teams. Every stakeholder should know what good looks like before you ask them to act on it. Build the issuing-side dispute and chargeback management framework: customer-facing raise flows, internal triage, backend reconciliation with PSP banks and NPCI, and SLA tracking. Define decisioning hooks in the payment flow — velocity checks, device signals, and step-up authentication triggers — in partnership with fraud and risk. Treat every fraud spike as a product problem to be solved. Compliance & Certification Own the NPCI certification lifecycle as a product function — plan and execute cross-functionally with compliance, engineering, and PSP bank partners for all scheme-mandated certification cycles. Read, interpret, and operationalise NPCI circulars and product circulars without hand-holding. Surface implications, own the response. What we're looking for 5+ years of product management experience, with a meaningful portion in payments or financial services. Relevant experience is
