SUMMARY The Product Integrity Engineer is responsible for safeguarding Kids2's brand reputation and legal compliance by ensuring all products meet or exceed safety, reliability, and quality standards. This role serves as the product safety and compliance expert for assigned product categories, overseeing the entire product lifecycle from concept through market surveillance. In this position, you will apply rigorous engineering principles, industry safety standards (ASTM, CPSC, ISO, EN), and consumer expectations to drive design decisions and validate product performance. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS DESIGN REVIEW & PRODUCT VALIDATION Conduct formal design reviews at key stage gates (concept, design freeze, pre-production, production) Create comprehensive design review reports including hazard analysis, compliance assessment, and risk mitigation strategies Perform or coordinate design validation testing (mechanical, material, durability, safety) Document all design changes and maintain version control of safety-critical specifications Validate that prototype samples meet all approved safety and performance specifications before production release Success Metrics: 100% of products reviewed and approved prior to production; zero safety-related design issues discovered post-launch; on-time completion of design review reports STANDARDS KNOWLEDGE & COMPLIANCE MANAGEMENT Develop and maintain expertise in applicable safety standards for assigned product categories (e.g., ASTM F406, F2050, F2451; CPSC regulations; ISO 8124; EN standards) Monitor and track changes to global safety regulations and industry standards Communicate updated requirements to cross-functional stakeholders. Ensure all Kids2 products comply with US, EU, and other global regulatory requirements RISK ASSESSMENT & HAZARD ANALYSIS Perform comprehensive hazard analysis on all new and modified products. Develop and document risk mitigation strategies, including design changes, manufacturing controls, and consumer warnings Ensure residual risks are acceptable and documented Maintain risk documentation for regulatory and liability defense purposes LABELING, PACKAGING & INSTRUCTIONS REVIEW Review and approve all product packaging, labeling, warnings, and instructional materials Ensure warnings are clear, conspicuous, and aligned with identified hazards Verify compliance with regulatory label requirements. Communicate labeling changes to cross-functional teams. CONSUMER COMPLAINT & RETURN ANALYSIS Partner with Quality Engineering and Consumer Services teams to investigate safety-related complaints, returns, and injuries CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION Partner with Global Design and Engineering teams to integrate safety requirements early in design Support Quality Engineering on complaint investigation Support Engineering teams during product launch. Collaborate with Product Compliance team on global requirement interpretation and documentation. Engage with Marketing on claims validation and consumer communication about safety features Interface with Senior Leadership on safety strategy, risk mitigation, and regulatory matters VENDOR & TESTING LAB ENGAGEMENT Work with the Product Compliance team and third-party testing labs to establish testing requirements, seek interpretations and identify requirements. Travel to supplier facilities (when needed) to support product development and engineering. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION Bachelor's degree (BS) in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Civil Engineering, or equivalent discipline. EXPERIENCE Minimum 3 years of professional experience in product design, quality engineering, product safety, or reliability engineering. Demonstrated ability to apply engineering principles to real-world product safety problems CORE COMPETENCIES Technical Communication: Ability to explain complex safety and engineering concepts to non-technical audiences (Marketing, Sales, Leadership) Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, meet deadlines, and prioritize competing demands Attention to Detail: Meticulous documentation habits; ability to catch errors or omissions in designs, specifications, or test data Critical Thinking: Ability to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions Independence & Initiative: Can work autonomously; identifies problems before they escalate Teamwork & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills; ability to influence without direct authority; builds productive relationships across departments. Fluent in written/spoken English. COMPUTER SKILLS Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk or hear.
