Specifically, we’re looking for a detail-oriented, business-minded Product Counsel to join our Legal team in our San Francisco office . This role offers exposure to a wide variety of issues and company departments, including product management, engineering, user experience research, product marketing, product design, and customer success . You will bring a collaborative, thoughtful, and practical mindset to solving problems, reporting directly to Asana’s Head of Litigation, IP, and Product Legal .
This role is based in our San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule . The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday . Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays . Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner . What you’ll achieve
Partner directly with Asana’s product and engineering teams on product and feature development and releases, including advising on general compliance issues .
Partner directly with Product Marketing and product teams on go-to-market plans and materials .
Conduct comprehensive legal reviews of new products, features, and UI/UX flows, particularly around collaboration tools, automated workflows, and enterprise-grade administration features .
Focus on outcomes by gaining a deep understanding of one or more product areas, R&D processes, and customer-facing product programs to become a trusted cross-functional partner .
About you
Demonstrates curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with a willingness to learn and leverage them to enhance productivity, collaboration, or decision-making .
Holds a JD from an accredited law school and is U.S.-qualified (California bar membership or California registered in-house counsel preferred) .
Brings 5+ years of combined experience working in-house at a SaaS company as product counsel and/or at a law firm in technology transactions or counseling high-growth SaaS companies on product, intellectual property, and/or strategic partnerships .
Shows strong collaboration skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with lawyers and non-lawyers across the company .
Acts as a creative problem solver comfortable with assessing risks and making clear decisions .
Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred: artificial intelligence, consumer protection, payments, productivity software, international compliance, or technical integrations/iPaaS .
Business and customer-oriented with experience bringing diverse stakeholders t o agreement .
Possesses excellent legal and business judgment with the ability to assess and clearly communicate risks and tradeoffs to business partners in plain language .
