About OpenAI
OpenAI’s mission is to ensure that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity. We build models and products that help people learn, create, and solve problems — and we work to do so safely and responsibly.
About the team
Our products are talked about by people, not just press and pundits. More than 900 million people use our tools each week, learning from one other and passing along what works. Their stories shape our reputation and encourage others to try our products.
Our community team builds direct relationships with people who use our tech. We channel their insights to our product and research teams and then amplify their stories and use cases so peers can learn from them.
About the role
We are seeking an exceptional community lead to uncover how domain experts — from farmers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWhfrR9WJ_c to scientists https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5X5CALvYvp0 — use ChatGPT and other OpenAI products in their work, and turn what you learn into product insight and useful stories for others.
You will build trusted relationships with these advanced users in your region, help them test upcoming products and models, and bring what you learn to OpenAI’s product, research, community, and storytelling teams.
The work combines community-building, qualitative research, and editorial judgment. What success looks like: You will have built a repeatable sourcing engine that consistently identifies diverse, high-signal users, earns their trust, documents their work, and turns the strongest use cases into compelling stories.
Stories this team has helped share include:
- A mathematician solves previously unsolvable math problems https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5X5CALvYvp0
- A broccoli farmer runs his farm with ChatGPT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWhfrR9WJ_c
- A family running a cereal business from their dining room with ChatGPT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q571PxpsdoA
- An astrophysicist creates black hole simulations with Codex https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XSI4SClBMA
- A pro race car driver shares her chats https://chatgptpro.substack.com/p/sara-choi
- A pro cross-country skier shares his chats https://chatgptpro.substack.com/p/maksym-murashkovskyi
You'll join a team of people doing similar work across the world. This role is based in London and requires frequent travel, including to OpenAI offices.
What you’ll do
- Find and support exceptional users: Build and manage a regional pipeline of advanced users working with OpenAI products in sophisticated, creative, or high-impact ways, looking beyond obvious influencers to earn trust across professions and cultures and maintain relationships over time.
- Turn advanced use into insight and stories: Interview users and, with their consent, review chats, artifacts, or demonstrations to understand workflows, outcomes, and limitations; translate the strongest examples into clear internal profiles and evidence-based recommendations, then partner with community and storytelling teams to develop selected stories.
- Build a connected community: Create opportunities for advanced users to learn from one another, identify recurring product-education needs and adoption patterns, and share regional signals that strengthen the global program.
What we’re looking for
- Exceptional curiosity about people, work, technology, and how new practices emerge
- Strong sourcing instincts and the resourcefulness to find high-signal people before they are widely known
- Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to earn trust across different professions, seniority levels, and cultural contexts
- Strong interviewing, research, writing, and synthesis skills
- Editorial taste and clear judgment about what is genuinely interesting, important, credible, and worth sharing
- Fluency with AI products and enough technical confidence to understand and document sophisticated workflows
