About This Role
The role involves creating a nurturing environment for young children, working closely with the Lead Teacher, and contributing to their development in a way that respects their individuality. At the same time, it's essential to foster a positive and responsive atmosphere for families and staff alike. This is a part-time position.
What You'll Do
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Abiding by Walnut Grove Children's Learning Center policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Participating in approved training sessions, with a minimum of 16 hours of professional development each year.
• Ensuring the safety and well-being of all children under their supervision.
• Collaborating with teachers to monitor children's development and progress.
• Engaging with children in the classroom to encourage their learning and growth.
• Supporting teachers in maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment.
• Understanding and following established lesson plans and classroom routines, especially in the teacher's absence.
• Maintaining a clean and tidy classroom by sweeping the floor, sanitizing surfaces, and ensuring toys and materials are in good condition.
• Using positive discipline techniques when interacting with children.
• Notifying the director of any equipment needs, maintenance requirements, or supply reorders.
• Contributing to a positive and respectful atmosphere among staff members.
• Attending staff meetings and center-sponsored programs.
• Maintaining confidentiality regarding children and their families.
• Conducting themselves professionally when interacting with parents, staff, visitors, and the general public.
• Completing additional tasks as assigned by management.
Requirements
• CPR, First Aid
• Problem solving abilities and critical thinking skills
• Organizational, planning and execution skills (including time management skills)
• Interpersonal and communication skills (including oral and written expression and comprehension skills)
• Knowledge of early childhood development and a dedication to continuing to learn new information to provide a quality learning environment for children
