Description
Overview Liquibase is the leader in Database DevOps. Downloaded more than 100 million times, our software enables DevOps teams around the globe to accelerate the software delivery process by automating database updates, security, and governance. We are a nimble, fast-paced, innovative team with the opportunity to make an outsized impact on the business and the industry. We're looking for a Director to lead our end-to-end technical customer engagement strategy, spanning both pre-sales (Sales Engineers who support the sales cycle with demos, technical discovery, and proof-of-concepts) and post-sales (Technical Advisors who drive implementation, adoption, and ongoing technical value realization). This is a unique opportunity to build and lead a unified technical organization that owns the customer's technical experience from first demo through years of production use. You'll bridge Sales and Customer Success ensuring customers get consistent, high-quality technical guidance at every stage, and that the lessons learned post-sale continuously sharpen how we sell and demo pre-sale. Who you are: You surprise and delight customers by delivering meaningful value, consistently going beyond what's expected. You're committed to excellence , holding high standards while embracing progress over perfection. You bring a growth mindset and the courage to have difficult conversations when they matter. You embrace change and uncertainty with energy and optimism, creating clarity where it doesn't yet exist. You take ownership and follow through, proactively identifying what needs to happen and reliably seeing it through. You are innovative . You see every challenge as an opportunity. You would rather create the future than wait for it. What you’ll be doing: Hire, coach, and develop Sales Engineers (pre-sales) and Technical Advisors (post-sales), building a single technical talent bench that can flex across the customer lifecycle Set clear goals, career paths, and technical enablement plans for both disciplines Establish team KPIs across both functions: win rates and POC-to-close conversion (pre-sales), and time-to-value, adoption, and technical health scores (post-sales) Own the technical sales motion: discovery, solution architecture, demos, and proof-of-concept execution for prospective customers Ensure Sales Engineers can clearly translate Liquibase's technical capabilities into business value for prospects across a range of database and DevOps environments Partner with Sales leadership to drive higher win rates and shorten sales cycles through strong technical leadership Own the technical onboarding, implementation, and adoption journey for new and existing customers Partner with Customer Success leadership to identify and resolve technical adoption blockers that put renewals or expansion at risk Partner with Product and Engineering to represent the voice of the technical customer in roadmap discussions, and to escalate and track product gaps surfaced during sales cycles or implementations Build reusable technical assets: demo environments, POC frameworks, reference architectures, and implementation playbooks Report on technical team performance, deal support impact, and adoption outcomes to executive leadership Must Haves: 7+ years of experience in Sales Engineering, Technical Account Management, or Professional Services in B2B SaaS or enterprise software, with at least 3+ years leading technical teams Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience Experience leading pre-sales is required Background of selling to Engineering Leadership in large enterprises Deep technical fluency in DevOps, CI/CD, database management, or infrastructure tooling  Proven ability to build scalable technical processes: POC frameworks, implementation playbooks, and demo environments Strong executive presence, comfortable engaging technical and business
