Role Overview
As a Power BI Specialist / Functional Data Analyst at ING, you will play a key role in turning data made available to you into clear, reliable and actionable business insights. Your work will help teams, management and front-office stakeholders make faster, smarter and better-informed decisions.
In this role, you will:
• Translate business questions into relevant views, datasets and data products that make insights easy to access and use.
• Maintain, design and optimize Power BI data models to deliver high-performing, scalable and trusted reporting solutions for management and front-office teams.
• Develop, automate and enhance Power BI dashboards , ensuring that available data is transformed into meaningful insights that support performance steering, prioritization and decision-making.
• Create compelling visualizations and narratives that translate complex data into clear, intuitive and business-relevant stories.
Key Responsibilities
Data Modeling and Collaboration:
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand their objectives, clarify problem statements and define how available data should be transformed, enriched and presented for maximum impact.
• Design and optimize Power BI data models that are robust, performant and intuitive, enabling advanced features such as hierarchical filtering, drill-down analysis and multi-level organizational structures.
Reporting and Automation:
• Contribute to the development of a Power BI Center of Expertise by promoting best practices in dashboard design, data modeling, performance optimization and governance.
• Develop and automate the underlying processes required for recurring reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting cycles.
• Build interactive dashboards and reports that deliver actionable insights, highlight key trends and enable users to explore the data independently.
As a Power BI Specialist / Functional Data Analyst, you should have the following qualifications and competences:
Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or alike, and/or equivalent experience of 5 years.
• Minimum 5 years relevant experience in data analytics
• Experienced in SQL.
• Strong expertise in Power BI data modeling, advanced DAX, report performance optimization and dashboard development.
• Advanced experience in developing, automating and maintaining reporting solutions using Power BI.
• Experience with tools such as SAS is a plus
• Experience in analytical work with large datasets and relational databases.
