Description
Pending availability of funding, the University of California, Irvine School of Education seeks a full-time Postdoctoral Scholar to join the Digital Learning Lab and support its work on generative AI in postsecondary writing instruction. The scholar will assist with research, training, and national leadership activities focused on ethical and effective uses of generative AI in the teaching and learning of college writing
The scholar will contribute to a national study of generative AI in postsecondary writing and to the development and pilot testing of the PapyrusAI writing platform and instructional resources with community college partners. Responsibilities include planning and carrying out professional development; data collection and management; qualitative, statistical, and natural language processing analyses of survey, interview, observation, writing, assessment, and platform/log data; preparation of research protocols; and coauthored reports, presentations, and publications. Approximately 25 percent effort will support project coordination, including tracking milestones, organizing meetings and materials, and facilitating partner collaboration.
The position will begin September 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter, contingent on the successful candidate's availability and the availability of funding. Salary and benefits will be provided in accordance with University of California policy and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
