Januar 2027, we are looking for 1 Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d), (39,83 hours/week) for a fixed-term position of three years (TVL-L E13), starting January 1, 2027 The research group of Prof. Dr. Sophie Langer at the Faculty of Mathematics is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to strengthen the team in the area of the theory of deep learning, with a particular focus on the statistical theory of Transformer architectures. Our research develops the mathematical foundations of modern machine learning by combining tools from mathematical statistics, probability theory, optimization, and approximation theory. We study the theoretical properties of neural networks, reinforcement learning, and modern prediction problems arising in deep learning, with the goal of developing a rigorous mathematical understanding of contemporary machine learning methods.
