We are seeking a highly motivated and well-trained cellular biologist for a postdoctoral position to develop human iPSC-derived cortical and noradrenergic neuronal models. The project aims to investigate the reciprocal interactions between these two neuronal populations and to characterize their mutual influence under physiological and pathological conditions using microfluidic devices and multielectrode array (MEA) recordings.
This project builds upon our recently published work demonstrating the contribution of central noradrenergic deficiency in cortical hyperexcitability that characterizes amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients and mouse models (Scekic-Zahirovic*, Benetton*, Brunet* et al., Science Translational Medicine, 2024).
The position is fully funded for 36 months through a prestigious “Équipe FRM” grant awarded in 2026 by the Fondation pour la Recherche Médicale (FRM), one of France’s leading biomedical research funding agencies.
Our laboratory focuses on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). We combine genetics, molecular and cellular biology, omics approaches, and electrophysiology to investigate the molecular mechanisms and biomarkers underlying these neurodegenerative diseases, with the ultimate goal of developing therapeutic strategies and improving diagnostic and prognostic tools.
Our dynamic and enthusiastic team comprises approximately 30 members, including six principal investigators, eight PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, as well as several specialized technicians and engineers.
We are located in the newly built Centre de Recherche en Biomédecine de Strasbourg (CRBS) and are jointly affiliated with INSERM (the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research) and the University of Strasbourg. We benefit from state-of-the-art facilities for cell culture, microscopy (including live-cell imaging), multielectrode array recordings, and a unique collection of patient- and control-derived iPSC lines.
Candidate profile:
• Extensive hands-on experience with human iPSC-derived neuronal cultures is required.
• Previous experience with microfluidics, MEA recordings and/or live-cell imaging would be highly appreciated.
