To learn more, visit   www.rlwest.org JOB DESCRIPTION Jobsite Location: Dickinson, ND Rice Lake West seeks an EXPERIENCED pipefitter for a Public Works project.  Piping diameters range from 1/2" to 48", can be underground or above ground, and include 20" bolted steel and 1/2" - 4" PVC and CPVC piping. Duties could include: • Layout, fabrication, assembly, installation, and maintenance of piping and piping systems, fixtures, and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial processing systems, on basis of knowledge of system operation and study of building plans or working drawings. • Selecting type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications. • Cutting pipe, using hacksaw, pipe cutters, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine. • Assembly and installation of metal pipe and pipe fittings, including those made of brass, copper, lead, ductile iron, steel, etc. • Joining piping by means of threaded, caulked, wiped, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints. • Securing pipes to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers using hand tools. • Installation and maintenance of refrigeration and air conditioning systems including pumps, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls and piping. • Testing piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks. Essential skills and qualifications: • Ability to read a folding rule to nearest fraction of an inch. • Ability to read an engineer's rule to nearest hundredth of a foot. • Ability to measure objects. • Ability to read and interpret drawings. • Must be able to visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings. • Must have the ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. • Ability and willingness to climb and maintain balance on high ladders and scaffold. • Ability and willingness to work on structural steel up to 250 feet in height. • Proficiency in shooting grade by use of grade rod, transit, level, and/or laser. • Ability to operate power tools including pipe cutter, pipe bender, welder, grinder, and sander. • May require appropriate training and licensing to perform some activities. • Must pass a pre-placement medical exam. Typical Working Conditions Frequent exposure to rain, sleet, snow, dust, mud, heat, sun, cold, noise and other conditions common to construction sites.  Contractual obligations may require irregular hours, out of town work, overnight stays, weekends, and holidays.
