The fellowship is linked to two possible research directions: 1. Representation learning for controlling complex systems This project will explore how abstract representations learned by deep neural networks can help translate high-level control goals into feasible low-level interventions, with applications to complex systems such as biological, technological, and computational systems. Topological and dynamic methods for neural representations This project will develop scalable methods based on topological data analysis to study high-dimensional representations in artificial and biological neural systems, with applications to interpretability and scientific datasets.
