Description
Department: Physiology and cell biology Description: We seek highly qualified and motivated PhD student fellows to conduct cutting-edge interdisciplinary research in neuroscience. Qualified applicants are expected to hold an M.Sc. in biology, neuroscience, or a related science/engineering discipline and a strong background in system neuroscience. Applicants are expected to be creative, communicative, and capable of independent analytical thinking. The successful candidate should have some previous experience in neurophysiology (preferably in-vivo electrophysiology), an interest in neuroscience, and good written and verbal English communication skills. Willingness to apply multidisciplinary experimental techniques is a relevant prerequisite. Proven experience in Matlab programming and data analysis is mandatory . Trainees will work in a highly interactive multidisciplinary research environment at Ben-Gurion University. The ongoing projects in our lab aim to link neuronal function and behavior in the somatosensory system. We address questions from the tip of the whisker to network activity in the cortex. Research focuses on coding tactile stimuli and their impact on action planning and adaptation. The lab applies an integrative experimental approach combining neurophysiological techniques (in-vivo electrophysiological recordings, Two-photon calcium imaging, and optogenetics) with behavioral analysis.
